Today is my sweet Dean and Mia’s first birthday. Over the weekend, we hosted the sweetest birthday bash. The theme was a lyric from a song: “If I was a flower growing wild and free, all I’d want is you to be my sweet honey bee.” I heard the song back in December, and I instantly knew that was our theme. Dean and Mia are each lovely individuals that go together so well. Dean is sweeter than honey and the MOST lovable, snuggly boy. Mia’s beauty is beyond a flower and certainly has a wild side that comes out more as she grows. It’s been incredible to witness the twin bond. I’m going to spare all my sappy words from this post for personal letters to each of my babies, because if I start on here I won’t ever stop! But I am really excited to share some photos from their first birthday, as well as from a mini photo session I did for them today on their birthday. It was laugh out loud funny to try to get two busy babies to look at me for photos. I absolutely love the beautiful, comic chaos that shines in the images. Enjoy, and be sure to snuggle your babies extra today, they grow up too fast!
I tend to run hot and cold with meal planning. A couple weeks of very inspired meals is usually followed by a temporary lull in dinner time inspiration. I love cooking, but I also face the same challenge many of you face - finding the time to prep it all, long days of either work or parenting, and that intense witching hour from 5-7 PM. I’ve often thought it would be fun to do a meal plan swap- what a fun way to learn a handful of great, new recipes without having to spend a large amount of time browsing through cookbooks and Pinterest. Below you will find 5 great recipes I’m incorporating into our March meal plan. So, I invite you to join me in revamping dinner time. Turn up the Jack Johnson music, have your kiddos grab their stools and aprons, and let’s transform dinner time together. These moments are worthy of enjoying!
Chicken Curry - this is by far our favorite curry to make at home. It’s simple and nutritious. I love that my kids are learning to enjoy a wide range of spice palates. We do rice in the instant pot and have a delicious meal!
Whole 30 Zuppa Toscana - I love that this is Whole 30 friendly but also just really delicious. Another winner for the whole family.
Magnolia Table Cookbook’s Grilled Salmon - I don’t have a link for this one, but it’s in the Magnolia Cookbook which is well worth having. We enjoy seafood and try to incorporate fish into our meals about once a week. You can get one here.
Chicken Enchiladas with Homemade Enchilada Sauce - this one I am really excited about. I’ve been on the hunt for a good chicken enchilada recipe and although I haven’t made it yet, I’m confident this will fit the bill! I love that you make the enchilada sauce yourself with ingredients that are usually on hand.
World’s Best Cinnamon Rolls - I would honestly be doing you a disservice if I didn’t share these with you. Plus, if you know me at all, you know that I will always promote a level of “treat yoself”! I know what you are thinking - there are about 500 cinnamon roll recipes on Pinterest claiming to be the best. The recipe comes highly recommended from a dear friend and when I finally got around to making them for Christmas brunch, the LIVED UP TO THE HYPE. They were unanimously loved by everyone there. So while you think about what your March will look like, create some space for a Saturday brunch with these delicious cinnamon rolls, a good cup of coffee, and maybe a mimosa too.
